Printer Problems

Problem: The printer will not turn on

Solution: Check power cord, ON/OFF switch

Problem: The printer will not print

Solution: Make sure that you are printing to that printer.  Check to see if that printer is your default printer.  When clicking on a printer icon the computer will always print to the default printer. Check to see if the printer is set to print offline.  Go into the printer applet and go to that printer's menu by right-clicking on it.  Check to see if it it checked to print offline.  Uncheck if it is.  Delete or cancel all print jobs that are in the queue. Make sure that printer is installed in your available printers.

Problem: The printer will not feed paper

Solution: The rollers may have a film on it and may need to be cleaned.  You may have a small piece of paper jammed in the feed tray. The paper tray may not be sitting properly.

Problem: The paper feeds through and but nothing is printing

Solution: You may have to change the print cartridge or clean dried ink on the cartridge. Use alcohol and a q-tip.

Problem: The paper constantly jams

Solution: There may be a piece of dust caught on the ink cartridge.  The cartridge may be faulty.  If it is a toner cartridge, then the drum may need to be cleaned.
